The Campus Vienna Biocenter is home to well over 500 scientists from all over the world. Both, basic and applied research is conducted in academic- and privately sponsored institutions. The variety of research topics from medical to biological problems, seminars open to all scientists on campus, collaborative projects, and jointly run, state-of-the-art facilities provide the framework to conduct science at an internationally competitive level and are an excellent training ground for students.

The long-standing tradition of RNA research in Vienna has led to the establishment of a Doctoral Program on RNA Biology which is organized by the Max F. Perutz Laboratories (MFPL, a joint venture of the University of Vienna and the Medical University of Vienna) together with the privately funded Research Institute of Molecular Pathology (IMP), the Institute of Molecular Biotechnology (IMBA) and the Research Center of Moleculare Medicine (CeMM) of the Austrian Academy of Science.

The program was initiated with the aim to provide students with the best possible academic and technical training in RNA-Biology. Highly qualified candidates are chosen from all over the world. PhD salaries are at an internationally competitive level and are granted for 3 years.

Successful candidates enter the PhD programme either at the University of Vienna or at the Medical University of Vienna.
